Loughlinstown Community Rooms is a community-based facility which aims
to promote and provide quality activities and services which
contribute to the physical, mental, emotional and social wellbeing of
the community.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

PROGRAMME DEVELOPMENT

* To develop and implement appropriate and relevant youth programmes
in line with national policy, best practice and funder requirements.
* To develop and implement appropriate activities which meet the
identified need of the community.
* To nurture and grow youth and community participation in
activities being provided within the Loughlinstown Community Rooms.
* To initiate and guide a partnership approach to working with
individuals and other service providers particularly in the area of
targeted youth interventions.
* To keep accurate records of all activities and to provide reports
to the Board of Management and funders.

STAFF MANAGEMENT

* To develop and maintain an open and supportive team-based
environment.
* To coordinate and direct the work of both Community Employment
Participants and core staff.
* To provide staff supervision and facilitate regular staff team
meetings.
* To oversee attendance and time management of staff and keep
records of same.
* To provide induction to all new staff.
* To assist in the recruitment process of both Community Employment
and core staff.

FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION:

* To manage the budget in line with the requirements of funders and
in consultation with the Board of Management and to keep the Board
updated on all funding streams.
* To ensure that funding is drawn down for the development and
implementation of programmes and to assist in securing additional
funding where necessary.
* To ensure that all financial records are kept up to date and to
provide the Board of Management with monthly financial reports.
* To keep records and information on all budgetary aspects of all
initiatives and projects within the remit of Loughlinstown Community
Rooms.
* To develop and maintain administrative systems that will assist
the project to work in an effective and efficient manner in
partnership with relevant statutory, voluntary and community agencies.

COMMUNITY FACILITY

* To manage the Loughlinstown Community Rooms in such a way as its
use is maximised and that all users of the facility including staff,
service users and agencies can work within a safe, clean and
comfortable environment.
* To develop and implement a promotional campaign raising awareness
of Loughlinstown Community Rooms and the activities and services
provided within.
* To ensure Health and Safety guidelines are fully implemented.
* To create a community-based ethos within the premises to allow for
ease of use by the community.

OTHER DUTIES

* To develop a relationship with the local community based on
openness and trust.
* To liaise and network with all relevant statutory, community and
voluntary agencies.
* To act as a resource to the Board of Management to fulfil its
functions.
* To provide written reports to the Board of Management and attend
board meetings as requested.
* To adhere to all policies procedures and guidelines as developed
by Loughlinstown Community Rooms and contribute to the development of
such policies, procedures and strategies.
* To work a minimum of two evenings per week.
* To attend evening and weekend meetings and / or training sessions
as may be required from time to time.
* Undertake any duties that may be assigned.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE SHOULD HAVE:

* Third level qualification in the area of Youth Work.
* Minimum of 2 years? experience working with at risk and
disadvantaged young people.
* To be aware of and competent in the area of national policy and
best practice as it applies to youth and community development.
* Previous experience in facilitation and group work.
* Previous experience of staff supervision.
* Ability to work responsively as part of a team or on own
initiative.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality.
* Experience of planning and organising time and workload
effectively.
* Excellent problem-solving skills.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
* Excellent report writing and information gathering skills.
* Experience of using IT packages such as Microsoft Office and
Outlook.
* Full drivers? licence and the use of a car.

DESIRABLE

* Third level qualification in the area of Community Development.
* Experience working in a developmental and or managerial role.
* Experience taking the lead on and co-ordinating projects as part
of an organisations strategic plan.
